At the time of writing this note, the birthplace field shows "Frederick, Adams, Pennsylvania" as the birthplace of John Cotton. I can find no evidence in History of Cumberland and Adams counties, Pennsylvania that a township by this name existed in Adams County. I suspect it to be Frederick Township, Philadelphia County, which did exist in 1751 before it and nearby township formed Montgomery County.
A history of the Cotton Family, including John and his known children at the time, appears in Genealogical and personal history of western Pennsylvania on page 1690. The information contained needs to be incorporated into the biography in this profile.
