André Couteaux is Notable.

André Couteaux (1925 – 1985) was a famous French writer, novelist and screenwriter.

He was born in Ankara.

By an early marriage André had a son, who became the famous French politician and writer

  1. Paul-Marie Coûteaux.

André's first notable novel was Un monsieur de compagnie, 1961. Over the next decade he translated it into English, Dutch and German versions. The English version was titled Gentleman in Waiting.

In 1964 André wrote the screenplay for the French film of Un monsieur de compagnie, directed by Philippe de Broca.

In 1969 André co-wrote the original screenplay for Mon oncle Benjamin (My Uncle Benjamin), a French film directed by Édouard Molinaro, starring Jacques Brel and Claude Jade, and based on a once-popular French comic novel Mon oncle Benjamin by Claude Tillier (1842).

André then married to the much younger Béatrice de Cambronne, the daughter of the famous French writer Claude de Cambronne, with whom he had a son,

  1. Stanislas Couteaux.

André lived in Damville for more than ten years.
