Biography

Alice Maria Cranfield was born in Woolwich in 1875^[1]. She was the daughter of John William Cranfield, an instrument maker/brass worker, and Mary Cranfield, née Lee.

Alice went into domestic service by the time she was 16, when she was living in a market gardener's household and working as a 'mother's help'^[3].

Alice probably married Reginald Westaway in Camberwell in 1919^[4] and had a son called Reginald^[5].

She may have died in Wandsworth in 1938, aged 53^[6].
