Gilbert Creech was Captured and convicted by the Confederate soldiers of murder and of being a Union Spy. During this time he was a member of the Union Home Guard Bushwhackers. He was executed by a firing squad at Brashear's Salt Works in Perry County. When asked if he would continue to spy for the Union army if he was set free, his response was he d---- sure would.
