Sebastian was born January 20, 1922 in Thompsonville, Ct. to the late Joseph and Sophia Wilk Cygan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Gensheimer, 2 brothers: John Cygan and Frank Cygan and a sister: Anna Massaro.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, retired manager of Continental Baking Company-Wonder Bread after 36 years. He was a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force during WW II as a flight instructor, member of American Legion Post #48 and was a member of Westfield, MA Sportsman Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Rokosz Cygan of the home, daughter: Linda Gensheimer of Hickory, son: William “Bill” Cygan and wife Sharon of Westfield, MA., granddaughters: Lisa MaGruder and husband, Shaun of Austin, TX, and Kimberly Cygan of Charlotte, Grandsons: Aaron Gensheimer and wife Ashton of Chicago, IL and William “Billy” Cygan, Jr. of Greenwich, Ct, great granddaughter: Avery Gensheimer of Chicago, IL., sister: Mary Chittenden of Holyoke, MA.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 25, at 2:00 P. M. St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Robert M. Ferris officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends in the Youth Center of First Presbyterian Church following the funeral service and burial.
The family extends their greatest appreciation for the loving care given by Maria Punch, Angela Mauney and Leticia Cerdas.
