Doyley-32 and D'Oyley-30 appear to represent the same person because: Presumably D'Oyley is LNAB. This has been waiting for 10 months

Hi Eric

Just following up the potential merge of this profile with D’Oyley-30. I’m not sure if I’ve interpreted your comment below correctly, but it is possible to merge into the D’Oyly spelling. It is best to get agreement first from the pms of both profiles, but once that is done, one profile is edited to the preferred LNAB and the other profile is merged into that one. Hope that makes sense! Do you consider D’Oyly is the most appropriate LNAB? It does seem to be the name used on most of the sources. Thanks, Gillian

Hi Gillian,

D'Oyly is the preferred spelling, though D'Oyley, Doyley, etc. are found in places to confuse the issue.

Hi Andrew, do you have a view on the preferred LNAB for Edmund D'Oyly / D'Oyley /Doyley? I've just created an unmerged match with Edmund Doyley and it would be good to discuss LNABs before progressing further! Thanks Gillian.

Hi Gillian, no strong opinion. Perhaps post a G2G question?

D'Oyley-30 and Doyley-32 are not ready to be merged because: I don't know enough about the D'Oyley/Doyley last name to make the merge, only that the later common spelling was D'Oyly.

Please reconsider. They are nearly identical.

Agreed that they are the same. But it specifically states not to merge unless you are sure of the spelling of the last name--and I don't think I have the option to use the D'Oyly spelling.
