Biography

Martha Davis was the daughter of Reese David. Her mother was Margaret Bye, but I have been unable to find a good source for this. U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900, Ancestry.com lists a marriage for Rees and Margaret, but no date. Quaker records show a Margaret Davis being condemned for "going out" in her marriage, this being recorded on 2 May 1737. She presented a letter regretting her outgoing, which was accepted by the Buckingham Meeting on 5 Jun 1738, but I have found no records for her after this date. Margaret died before 1748 as she was not in attendance at the marriage of her daughter Martha, she is not named in the will of Nathaniel Bye, and Rees remarried after the death of Margaret -- Olive (Kitchen) Heed, who is named in his will. The marriage was abt. 1749 based on the age of their son John. Ancestry trees have Margaret Byes's father as Nathaniel Bye, but she is not named in his will which was written in 1748, and Quaker records do not record her birth.

Marriage

Martha married Crispin Blackfan in 1756 at the Buckingham Monthly Meeting. The document does not list parentage, but Rees David signed the certificate under the parents of Crispin. [1] https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/28080169?h=d70cae
