By the time the 1850 census was taken, Carroll County had been formed from part of Grayson County. [3]
In 1910 seventy seven year old Sally, a widow, is living in the home of 48 year old Margaret J Davis, single, who is head of household, and Margaret's mother. Margaret is a farm operator who owns her own property and is an employer. There is also her sister, Molly A Davis, [4]
Sarah Adeline, a widow, passed away on May 4, 1920 from "carcinoma of the stomach" in the Pipers Gap section of Carroll County, Virginia.

The day after her death she was buried at Coleman Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery of Carroll County, Virginia. The undertaker is listed as "Friends Acting".
