Biography

Justine Rose was born about 1832. She was the daughter of Emery de Malmanche and Rose Jerzeau.

She was a passenger age 11 on the Comte de Paris.

In 1851 in New Zealand she married Francois Etienne Lelièvre, another passenger from the same ship.[1]

The Lelievre family consisted of four sons and five daughters, viz., Mr. E. E. Lelievre, of "Oinaka," and Messrs Auguste, Eugene and Jules, of Akaroa. The daughters are Mesdames E. L Lelievre, of Long Bay road, G. Kearney, of Gough's Bay, and R. Ferris, of Akaroa, The other two daughters, Mrs. Jules Lelievre, of German Bay, and Miss Josephine Lelievre predeceased their father.

Obituary (1 Oct 1912)[2]
MRS. F. LELIEVRE

Last night a very well known Akaroa identity passed away in the person of Mrs Francois Lelievre. The deceased lady, who had attained a ripe age of 83, has enjoyed fairly good health up to the last fortnight, walking about even in the roughest weather. Mrs Lelievre was a daughter of the late M. Emery de Malmanche, and arrived with her parents in the Comte de Paris in 1840, when she was eleven years old. She married the late Francois Lelievre, and had a family of eight children, Messrs E. E., A., E. F. and Jules Lelievre, and Mesdames J. and E. L. Lelievre, G, Kearney, and R. Ferris. With her decease there remain only four of the original emigrants who arrived in the Comte de Paris—M and Madame Eteveneaux, M. Libeau, and P. de Malmanche.

She is buried at Akaroa Catholic Cemetery. [3] [4]
