Obituary: ( Western Star and Roma Advertiser (Qld. : 1875 - 1948) Wed 12 Mar 1919 / Page 2) - Death of Mrs. Thomas Shanahan. The news of the death of Mrs. Thomas Shanahan, which occurred at the Roma hospital early on Sunday morning, was received with deep regret by the community. The late Mrs. Shanahan was 72 years of age, and came to Queensland in 1865, from County Tipperary, Ireland. She was married the same year, her husband, the late Mr. Thomas Shanahan, having predeceased her about three years ago. With her husband she came to reside in the Roma district about 40 years ago, where for some years the late Mr. Shanahan and sons followed the occupation of carpenters, but later took up land near Roma. Deceased, whose happy disposition made her very popular with those who knew her, has been failing for some time, but only became seriously ill on Monday last. She was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, where she passed away as stated. She leaves a grown-up family of 8 sons and 5 daughters. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was largely attended.^[3]
