Wilhelm Diekmann was born at 7:30 a.m. on 19 December 1885 in Pye, Osnabrück, Hannover, Preußen, Deutsches Reich, son of Heinrich Rudolph Dieckmann (1828–1901) and Maria Lisette (Schöler) Dieckmann (1849–1921).[1] He was baptised in the catholic church St. Alexander in Wallenhorst on 22 December 1885.[1] His godfather was Pächter Heinrich Goldkamp, and his baptismal witnesses were the married Maria Diekmann and the married Maria Agnes Diekmann, all three residing in Eversburg.[1]
