Biography

Alexander Downey was born in West Virginia, United States in about 1825. Both his parents were born in Pennsylvania per the census records.

Alexander married Sarah Jane Brannon and had 11 children.

Children per 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records:

  1. Jeremiah M - son born about 1850 in Virginia
  2. Sarah J - daughter born about 1852 in Virginia
  3. Thomas J - son born about 1854 in Virginia
  4. Lavernia - daughter born 14 Mary 1855 in Virginia [1] Died in 1940. [2]
  5. James B - son born 23 Jul 1857 in Virginia [3] Married in 1892. [4]
  6. Minora - daughter born about 1860/1 in Virginia. Married in 1881. [5]
  7. Eunice - daughter born about 1863/4 in Virginia
  8. Flora S - daughter born about 1866 in West Virginia
  9. Ulysus/Ulissus G - son born about 1868/70 in West Virginia
  10. Lydia C - daughter born about 1874 in West Virginia

In 1860 they are living in Virginia with six children. [6]

In 1870 Alexander and Sarah are living in West Virginia with nine children. [7]

In 1880 he is 55 and they are living in West Virginia with six children. He is a farmer. [8]

He passed in 1908.
