Charles Walter "A-Train" Dryden served as a US military pilot during World War II. He was one of the “Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.” The Tuskegee Airmen were known for heroic combat service in support of Allied Forces in the European Theater. They served with the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group, both largely Black units of the United States Army Air Forces.[1]

Charles Dryden was born in 1920. He was the son of Jamaican-born educators Violet Adina Buckley Dryden and Charles Levy Tucker Dryden.

He married Irma Cameron in 1943 in Alabama City, Alabama.[2][3]

He made the Air Force a career, served in Korea, and retired in 1962 as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring, he became a professor of Air Science at Howard University.

He died in 2008 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.[4][5]
