Biography

Abraham was born on July 13, 1787 in New York State, the eldest son of Samuel and Martha Ann (WRIGHT) DUNHAM. His burial marker shows that he passed away on December 18, 1866.^[1]. His burial is made next to his wife Elsey. There is considerable confusion with respect to his wife Elsey Horton. There are two marriage dates M1 on February 28, 1808 to Elsie "Anna" Horton who was born October 11, 1793 (daughter of Joshua and Lucy (THOMPSON) HORTON) and is said to have died December 12, 1866 (only days before Abraham), and M2 on January 15, 1837 to Elsey Horton, she born January 29, 1801 and died sometime after 1880. This researcher has not been able to make sense of the data. In any case, the known children from marriage #1 are: Mary Dunham, who married a "Dickenson" and had son Abraham Dickenson; George Dunham who married Harriet Elsbree; Samuel Dunham who married Caroline (MNU); Sylvenus Dunham born 1817; Abraham Dunham Jr who married Harriet.
