Joel Dunn is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A034900.

Birth, Marriage, Death, Burial: DRAKE, compiled by Harman R. Clark Jr., 229 South Washington Avenue, Dunellen, N.J. 08812-1645, p. 32.

Joel Dunn married Rachel Runyon, who was of Huguenot descent. See notes for Micajah Dunn. LDS Tape #0947065, Genealogy of the Dunn Family, says that his death date was 1845. He was 98 years old when he died--a very great age any time, and certainly in the mid-1800s. Rachel lived from 1753 to 1848--95 years. They were married in 1771 and had 12 children. Rachel's father was Benjamin; her grandfather was Peter. Joel was a private in the Revolutionary War.

Joel Dunn's Will, Book D, p. 559, probated 1845 [Middlesex Co N.J.?] lists wife Rachel and children David, Esther, Jane, Anna, Asa, Mercy, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Sarah.

Geri Halstead, editor of the Runyon newsletter, lists one additional child of this marriage: the eldest, Micajah Dunn, b. 25 Oct 1772. She says that he married Eunice Tingley (no other information given.) I can find no substantiation for this given name and marriage and have disregarded this information.

The marriage of Joel and Rachel is also listed in The Sabbath Recorder, Aug. 28, 1899, Vol. 55:35, p.549. The Recorder was a Seventh Day Baptist church publication. On file at the Seventh Day Baptist Library, Janesville, Wisconsin.

Burial site is given in DRAKE, compiled by Harman R. Clark Jr., 229 South Washington Ave., Dunellen, N.J. 08812-1645.

!Marriage: O. B. Leonard, The Sabbath Recorder, Aug. 28, 1899, Vol. 55:35, p. 549. The Recorder was a Seventh Day Baptist church publication. On file at the Seventh Day Baptist Library, Janesville, Wisconsin.
