A record of the birth of this Clarence Samuel Edson who was born September 28, 1881 in Greenwich, Hampshire, Massachusetts to parents, Charles P. Edson and Carrie B. Douglass.[1]

See 1900 US Census source that says in 1900 he was employed as a live in, hired man/farm hand.

See 1910 US Census source that says in 1910 he was employed as an assembler in a typewriter factory.

See 1920 US Census source that says in 1920 he was employed as a "rubber worker-rubber works".

See 1930 US Census source that says in 1930 he was employed as a "gas maker for a gas company."

See 1940 US Census source that says in 1940 he was employed as a farmer on his own farm.

MARRIAGE:

A record of the marriage of this Clarence S. Edson to Nettie M. Gamwell, May 10, 1903 in Enfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts, (registered in Greenwich, Massachusetts). Of this Clarence, this record also says he was 21yrs old, and entering into his 1st marriage at the time and that he was born in Greenwich, Hampshire, Massachusetts to parents, Clarence P. Edson & Carrie B. Douglass. His occupation is not clear...may be "jackhammer"??[2]

CENSUS':

The 1900 US Census of Greenwich, Hampshire, Massachusetts finds this Clarence S. Edson at the age of 19yrs old and given as a "hired man/farm laborer for Ezra (E.P.) Alden and living with that Ezra and his wife, Mary. This record says Clarence was born in Massachusetts in September of 1881.[3]

The 1910 US Census of Hartford, Ward 3, Hartford, Connecticut finds this Clarence S. Edson at the age of 28yrs old and given as an assembler in a typewriter factory, born in Massachusetts and married for 6yrs. He is living there in Hartford's Ward 3 perhaps on Garden St. with his 29yr old wife, Nettie M. and their 2yr old son, Chester S.[4]

The 1920 US Census of Akron, Summit, Ohio finds this Clarence S. Edson at the age of 38yrs old and given as a "rubber worker in rubber works", born in Massachusetts, living there in Akron on something reading like Hazel, Hayll, or Hoyle Street, with his 39yr old wife, given as Nettie N. and their 12yr old son, given as Chester R.[5]

The 1930 US Census of Township 4, (Near Willows), Glenn, California finds this Clarence S. Edson at the age of 48yrs old and given as a "gas maker for a gas company", born in Massachusetts and married since age 21yrs old, living there with his 49yr old wife, Nettie M.[6]

The 1940 US Census of Judicial Township 4, (perhaps, Willows), Glenn, California finds this Clarence S. Edson at the age of 58yrs old, manager of his own farm, born in Massachusetts, living there in Glenn County (Judicial District 4), with his 59yr old wife, given as Netta M.[7]

MILITARY-TYPE RECORDS:

A World War 1 draft registration record for this Clarence Samuel Edson where he registered September 12, 1918 in Amherst, Massachusetts confirms that he was born in Greenwich, Massachusetts, September 28, 1881. IT says at the time he registered, he was 36yrs old, was a self-employed farmer, living and working in Greenwich, Massachusetts and that his next of kin was his wife, Nettie M. Edson. It describes his as being of medium height and build and having grey eyes and brown hair.[8]

DEATH:

A California Death Index records indicates that this Clarence S. Edson died in Glenn, California, April 21, 1948. The record gives his birthplace as Massachusetts and his parents as Edson & Douglas.[9]
