James Emery was born in 1728 in Berwick, York, Massachusetts Bay, son of Joseph Emery (1702–1793) and Mehitable Stacy (1706–1786).
James (21) married Mercy Mary Bean (19) (born on October 7, 1730 in York; daughter of Jonathan Bane and Sarah (Nowell) Bane) on August 24, 1750 in Biddeford, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Their children were:
