ingemar Ericsson was born the 26th of April 1925 in Hallagårdenm Kinneved as the son of Gunnar Ericsson and Gunhild Ericsson. Ingemar was baptized on 5 June by pastor Gustav Bjerkander with his grandfather Wilgott and grandmother Ada as sponsors.[1]
Ingemar grew up at Hallagården with his father Gunnar, aunt Anna, little sister Margot, and grandfather Erik. After Gunhild died in 1928, aunt Anna moved to the farm and took care of Ingemar and Margot. Grandfather Erik lived on the farm in his own little house until 1936. Little brother Gotthard grew up with his grandmother and grandfather, which gave Ingemar and Margot a much closer relationship than they had with Gotthard. Ingemar suffered from reumatic fever during his teenage years and in that manner wasn't available to to use as a field hand doing the hard work on the farm with his father. That lead to an opportunity to study, together with him being intelligent and very able in school. He took the "realexamen" [roughly high school entry exam] in Falköping and as a result became a student in Skara in Latin and then continued his academic studies in Uppsala.
During the 1950's and beginning of the 60's Ingemar workd at the publisher "Natur och Kultur" as an editor and fact checker. In 1961 he was hired to the "Dagens Nyheter" editorial office where he remained until his retirement in 1990. Ingemar was educated and a many-sided expert with an almost unbounded memory capacity. From 1960 until the 1980's he participated in a number of radio quiz competitions where he often emerged as the victor. I "Nya Tidsfrågen" he became the grand master. Ingemar married Ulla-Britt (born Persson) who was also a student, in 1956 at Hille Church. Ulla-Britt worked as a library chief at Pharmacia. Together they had children Karin and Mats. Ingemar, who was always called "Ingemar i Uppsala" was often home for visits at Hallagården in the summers with Ulla-Britt, Mats, and Karin with family. Ingemar and Ulla-Britt lived in a house at Skrindvägen13 in the Gottsunda neighborhood of Uppsala.
On 5 Feb 2000 Ingemar suffered from a powerful stroke from which he never recovered. Ingemar passed the next day on 6 Feb 2000.
