Biography

Johannes Ericsson (also: Ericksson) was born in 1739[1] or 1741[2][3][4] in Fristad, Älvsborg, Sweden.[3] He was the son of Eric Benetsson[4] (or Johansson[5]) and Elin Svensdotter.[4][5]

He married Maria Svensdotter on 17 Jun 1764 in Fristad.[5] At the time was a 26 year-old bondafolck (peasant) living at Liunga Qvarn (also: Ljunga Kvarn), a mill under Påtorp in Fristad.[5]

Johannes and Maria were parents to:

  3. Sven (Johansson) Hellström (b. 8 Jan 1770 in Fristad)[7]
  4. Kierstin (b. 5 Dec 1772 in Fristad)[8]
  5. Kjerstin (b. 17 Sept 1774 in Fristad)[9]
  6. Kjerstin (b. 13 Sep 1776 in Fristad, d. abt 1779 in Sandhult)
  7. Eric (b. 14 Apr 1779 in Sandhult)[10]
  8. Catharina (b. 22 Feb 1782 in Sandhult, d. 1784 in Sandhult)[11]

He died of lungsot (Eng: pneumonia) on 27 Dec 1805 at Högelid in Bredared Parish.[3][4] He was 66 years old.[4] He was buried in Bredared on 6 Jan 1806.[4]

Research Notes

The family seems to have moved out of Äspenäs in 1779, as that is when they are no longer recorded having household exams there.[2]

In 1779, the family moved into Helleröds Qvarn (also Kvarn) at Sandhult.[1] Son Eric was born there in April 1779. They may have moved back to Fristad in 1781.
