Biography

George Etherington was born in 1864 in York, Yorkshire, England to William Etherington and Caroline (Beadenkopfer) Etherington. His birth was registered in York in the third quarter of the year.^[1]

In 1871 George Etherington (age 6, Scholar) lived in St Margaret, York with his father William (40, Engine Driver), mother Caroline (40), and five siblings: William (15, Glass Blower), Mary (14), Calenia (12, Scholar), Anne (3), and Joseph (1).^[2]

In 1881 George Etherington (age 16, Letter Carrier) lived at Red Tower Buildings in St Margaret Walmgate, York with his father William (49, Labourer), mother Caroline (49), and three siblings: Alice [Annie] (13, Scholar), Albert (9, Scholar), and Annie [Alice] (7, Scholar).^[3]
