From Kentucky, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, when it was only a fort.

From Indiana, he moved his family to Green County, Wisconsin, and later lived with his son in Monroe, Wisconsin.

He passed away October 26, 1889, the day before his 101st birthday.
