Biography

Caswell (mistakenly recorded as "Samuel" in the 1850 census) was born about 1842. He is the son of John Fain and Elizabeth Butt. [1] [2]

Caswell served in the Civil War with the 2nd North Carolina Cavalry Regiment. [3] [4]

He married Julia Sanderson and they had children: [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

  2. John Gaylor, b. 13 Apr 1869, never married, d. 25 Apr 1943
  3. Icie, b. 11 Jun 1871, m. George Theodore Love, d. 23 Feb 1953
  4. Carrie, b. 14 Sep 1873, never married, d. 02 Sep 1956

Caswell passed away in 1875 and is buried at Hayesville Baptist-Presbyterian Cemetery in Clay County, North Carolina. [10]
