Biography

No baptism has been found for Jean Falardeau. His funeral record in 1803 gives him 42 years of age. He is named Charles on his marriage, and thereafter Jean, Jean Baptiste or Jean Charles. He may have been called Charles in his marriage record in error, this being his father's name. The record is damaged (ink-blot at bottom). He was born about 1752 per PRDH but by calculating age of 42 at death on 22 Nov 1803 would give a YOB of 1761. Since he is mostly known as Jean or Jean Baptiste he was most likely Jean Baptiste at birth. He was the son of Charles Falardeau and his wife Marguerite Savard. As PRDH has no supporting documents listed for a YOB of 1752 this profile uses 1761 in accordance with the only record, his burial, from which a YOB can be calculated.

Charles Foulardau (sic), son of the late Charles Foulardau and the late Marguerite Savart, and Marie Angelique Bédard, daughter of the late Jean Bedard and Marie Angélique Leros (sic), were married on 19 January 1784 in Saint-Charles church of Charlesbourg. Cited present were François, Étienne and Joseph Falardeau, brothers of the groom, Charles Savart uncle. ^{[1] [2]}

Jean Falardeau, widower of Angélique Bédard, died on 20 November 1803 and was buried on the 22nd in St-Ambroise-de-la-Jeune-Lorette (later Loretteville), the record giving him 42 years of age. Cited present were Étienne Falardeau and Antoine Bédard, who could not sign.^[3]

There are two married couples named Jean Falardeau and Angélique Bédard. The grooms are double first cousins. ^[4]

Jean François Falardeau married Angélique Bédard on 27 Feb 1775, Registre des Hurons de Loretteville. He gets married under the name François and thereafter only used that name. ^[5]

Jean Baptiste Charles Falardeau married Marie Angélique Bédard on 19 Jan 1784, Charlesbourg. He married under the name Charles and thereafter is listed as Jean, Jean Baptiste or Jean Charles.
