Tom was born in 1862. He is the son of John Farmer and Harriet Beck. [1] He was christened on 3 August 1862 at St Pauls Church, Monk Bretton, Yorkshire[2]

Tom married Eliza Brookshaw in 1883 at Barnsley, Yorkshire[3]
