Biography

Solomon was born in Virginia in 1833[1], probably at Morgantown, Monongalia County (his sister Delilah Fawver Thomas was reported to have been born in Morgantown, Virginia in 1830[2]), died at Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois in 1912 and was buried on 21 November in Drummer Township Cemetery at Gibson City.[3][4] He reported his parents as both born in Virginia in the 1880 census, his father born in Virginia and his mother in Pennsylvania in the 1900 census, and both parents born in Ohio in the 1910 census. He was the son of Nancy Roby/Robey and the brother of Isaac Fawver[5], Nancy Fawver and Delilah Fawver (Thomas). His father's identity is not yet known.

In 1850 Solomon Fawver appeared in the household of Amanuel Rolley and his wife Nancy at East Pike Run, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Also living in the household was J.W. Fawver, John W. Roby, J.P. Roby and N.J. Fawver. Solomon was recorded as 17 years old and born in Virginia. It's possible Amanuel's surname was Robey.[6]

Solomon married Sarah Smith on 17 September 1854 at Chillicothe[3], Ross County, Ohio. The minister who conducted the ceremony was Abraham Jones. [7][8] They were recorded as the parents of nine children.[3][9]

In 1860 Solomon Fawver was living at Springfield Township, Ross County with his wife, three children, James P. Robey and Mary A. Smith.[1]

In June of 1863 Solomon Fawfer appeared on a "U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Record" as a 30 year old married, farmer, born in Virginia and living in Buckskin Township, Ross County.[10]

It was noted in an obituary for Solomon Fawver that he and his family went to Illinois in 1867.[3]

In 1880 Solomon Fawver was living at Drummer Township, Ford County, Illinois with his wife and seven children. She was recorded as 46 years old and born in Ohio. [11]

In 1900 Solomon Fawver was living at Cheney Grove Township, McLean County, Illinois with his daughter Katie Fawver and an adopted daughter, Florence Fawver.[12]

In 1910 Solomon Fawver was living at Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois with his daughter Katie.[13]
