Biography

Hugh was youngest child of Duncan Fergusson (b 1786-d-1854) +Catherine (Christie) Fergusson —b 1797-Feb 18, 1869 in Ontario, Ontario, Canada. ...Hugh was a teacher, a single man, in Reach Ontario visiting with his mother at census time 1861, as he lived in nearby Brock, Ontario. Also present was sister, Margaret 35. Hugh’s age here is listed as 23 but should be 25– possibly misread when transcribed? Some sources have him Born 1836+ some say 1838..? His baptismal record says 14 March 1836, in Killin, Perthshire, Scotland, father Duncan, mother Catherine Christie.
