William was born in 1796. He was the son of Abner Field and Jane Pope. He moved to Arkansas in 1830 and was the Superior Court clerk and later judge of the 5th circuit court for Johnson, Yell, Pope, and Conway Counties. He married in 1819, a cousin Mildred Banks (1797-1859), daughter of Baylor (1775-) and Ann Slaughter Banks, of Jefferson County, Ky. Their ten children were Ann Baylor (1820-79); Jane Elizabeth (1822-57); James A. (1824-); Mary (1824-) who married Thomas Lewis, of Ky., and had issue; Ellen Judith (1825-86); Silas F. (1832-); Margaret (1837-); Benjamin Johnson (1839-81); Julian (1841-); and Florence Field (1843-). [1]
He passed away in 1861.
