1868 Matilda Ellen was born to Wesley & Elizabeth (Hubbell) Fiscus on 29 March in Arney, Indiana[3] She was welcomed by two older sisters: Sarah Elizabeth (3) and Eliza Jane (2).[1]

1870 The family is living in Indiana -- Wesley (30) & Elizabeth (31), along with Sarah (5), Eliza (4) and Matilda ("Tilda") (2).[4] On 12 July Matilda's brother Cary is born.[1]

1872 Matilda's brother Edward is born on 1 October.[1]

1874 Matilda's sister Emily Alice is born on 25 April.[1]

1876 Matilda's brother Jesse J. is born on 15 December.[1]

1878 Matilda's sister Mary Evaline is born on 25 April.[1]

1880 Matilda (12) and her family are living in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana. The household includes her parents, Wesley (40) & Elizabeth (41), as well as eight siblings: Sarah (15), Eliza (13), Cary ("Carrie") (9), Edward (8), Emily ("Emma") (6), jesse ("Jessie") (3), Mary (2) and newborn Fannie (0).[5]

1882 When Matilda is 17, her sister Sarah Elizabeth marries John Cain Fiscus.[1]

1884 Matilda's sister Lucy Ann is born on 6 July.[1]

1885 Matilda's next older sister Eliza Jane passes away on 4 January.[1]

1887 Matilda's younger sister Mary Evaline passes away on 3 January.[1]

1889 Matilda marries Herschel Nation on 4 December.[6]

1891 Effie is born.[2]

1900 The family is living in Urbana, Illinois. The household includes Herschel and Matilda, their four children -- Ina (10), Effie (8), Jesse (6) and William (4) -- as well as Herschel's brother Sam D. Nation (42).[7]

1910 Matilda & Herschel and their family are living in Urbana, Illinois. Children include: Ina (19), Effie (17), Jessie (15), William (14), Gladys (6).[8]

1913 Effie marries Earl Clutts -- no specific date is given.[2]

1914 Ina marries Cornelius M. O'Brien no specific date is given.[9]

1920 Matilda, Herschel and Gladys (16) are living in Urbana, Illinois.[10]

1930 Matilda (63) and Herschel (69) are living in Urbana, Illinois.[11]

1937 Herschel passes away on 7 August at the age of 76. He is buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois.[12]

1941 Matilda passes away on 10 January.[3]
