Biography
Thomas was born in 1856 in Stepney, Middlesex the son of Charles Henry Fossey and Eliza (Leighton) Fossey.[1]
1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Thomas was living at 6 Salmons Lane, Limehouse, Middlesex with his parents Charles and [Leighton-2217|Eliza Leighton]], and his siblings Isabella, Alexander, Herbert and Jessie. Also living there were his father's children from his first marriage Eliza, William, Charles, John and James.[2]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Thomas was living at 203 Salmons Lane, Limehouse, Middlesex with his parents Charles and Eliza Leighton, and his siblings Isabella, Jessie and Alfred. Also living there was her father's son from his first marriage Charles and her father's niece Maice Herbault.[3]
On the 24th March 1880 Thomas Ernest Fossey married Mary Ann Sarah Hassell at St Anne LImehouse, Middlesex. Thomas was described in the register as a bachelor, occupation draper, living in Limehouse, the son of Charles Henry Fossey a pawnbroker. She was described as a spinster, living in Limehouse, the daughter of Alfred Hassell, an oil and colour man.[4]
1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Thomas a draper, was living at 341 Clapton High Road, Hackney, Middlesex with his wife Sarah, and their son Ernest.[5]
1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Thomas a pawnbroker following his father, was living in Poplar, Middlesex with his wife Sarah, and their son Edgar.[6]
Thomas died aged 82 about 1939 in Thanet, Kent.[7]
