Henry's father died in 1835, and was buried on 8 Nov 1835 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His age was recorded as 52, and his address as Eccleston.
By June 6th 1841, the family were living in Lane Ends, Eccleston. Martha was a watch maker; her son James was a journeyman watchmaker, and Henry was an apprentice watchmaker. As well as Martha and four of her children, the household included servant Elizabeth Harrison (aged 10-14); Henry, William and Thomas Jones, grandsons of Martha; Thomas Evans, a journeyman watch maker; three apprentice watchmakers named John Potter, John Hollihead and James Ashton; and Ann Hulme, who was Martha's granddaughter.
Henry married Mary Woosey in 1845, in a registrar-attended ceremony in Prescot district.
