Abraham France was born on 22 October 1821, probably in Ohio. He was the son of Abraham France and Mary Starns.[1] (See also, Research Notes.)
On 19 October 1848, Abraham France married Catharine Lenhart in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.[2]
In the 1850 census Abraham (age 28) and his wife Catherine (age 26) were living in Wayne Township, Tuscarawas, Ohio. Their household also included a baby, John H. France (age 6/12) and John Lanehart (laborer, age 16), who may have been his brother-in-law, or another of his wife's relatives. Abraham's occupation was listed as farmer.[3]
In the 1860 census Abram (age 34), Farmer, was in Hudson, LaPorte, Indiana.[4]
By 1870, Abraham (age 51) and his wife Catherine (age 46) and their expanded family were living in Hudson Township, LaPorte, Indiana. Their household included:
George W. (age 18)
Flora L. (age 15)
Mariett (age 13)
Charles (age 11)
Lucretia (age 4)
Ethelbert (age 1)
The occupations for Abraham and George were given as farmer. [5]
In the 1880 census Abram (age 58), farmer, was the married head of household in Galien, Berrien, Michigan.[6]
In the 1900 census Abraham (age 79) was the married head of household in Galien, Galien Township, Berrien, Michigan.[7]
Abraham France died (age 88) on 4 July 1910 in New Carlisle, St Joseph, Indiana.[1]
He was buried in New Carlisle Cemetery, New Carlisle, St. Joseph, Indiana.

Research Notes
Abraham's death record lists his parents as Abraham France and Mary Starns. France family trees on Ancestry identify an Adam France Jr. married to a Mary Sterns. More research is needed to sort out this discrepancy. Kimbel-162 22:58, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
