Hannah was born at Highfield, Slaithwaite and baptised[1] at St James, Slaithwaite, Yorkshire in 1757. She was the daughter of Joshua France and Rebecca Wrigley. Yet another woman in this branch of our family with a surname of French origin. Hannah was married to William Sykes, a Cloth Dresser in 1777 at Slaithwaite[2] and they had five children, three sons followed by two daughters, the last being born in 1790. Hannah died at Slaithwaite Hall in 1830 and was buried at St James, Slaithwaite[3].
