Rebecca was born at Golcar Edge, Huddersfield and baptised[1] at Slaithwaite, Yorkshire in 1712. She was the daughter of John Wrigley and Martha Crowther. Rebecca was married to Joshua France in 1737 at Huddersfield, Yorkshire[2] and they had nine children, including five daughters, with one girl dying in early childhood. There first child was born at Fallingwood, Slaithwaite but the remaining children were all born at Shaw Field, Slaithwaite. Joshua died there in 1782 and was buried at Slaithwaite. Rebecca also died at Shaw Field in 1797 and she too was buried at Slaithwaite[3].
