Biography
Alexander, known as "Pat"[1], was born in March 1904 in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa. He was the son of Alexander Frayne[2] and Harriet Fry. He was baptised in the Parish of St Alban the Martyr in Pretoria, Transvaal on May 21st, 1904.[3]
Alexander married Selma Dorine Pomroy on 16 January 1932 in Pretoria, Transvaal. [4] They had the following children:
- Judith Selma Frayne, born 1933[5]
- Alexander Gilbert Frayne, born 1934[6]
- Julian Robin Frayne, born 1940[7]
After Selma passed away, Alexander married Patricia Kathleen Herold on 21 January 1948 at the St Mary's Cathedral in Johannesburg.[8] They had the following children:
- Patrick "Paddy" Frayne, born 1949[9]
- Clinton Frayne, born 1950
- Sally Frayne, born 1955
- Mary Frayne, born 1956
- Michael Frayne, born 1959
- Kathleen "Kathy" Frayne, born 1961
- Jeanette "Jenny" Frayne, born 1964
He died in February 1976 in Pietermaritzburg, Natal, after battling emphysema.
