Phoebe (Free) Gilchrist was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Phoebe Ann Free was born in 1862 in the Colony of Victoria, the daughter of William Free and Eliza Flavell. Her birth was registered in that year — as Ann — at Teesdale, Victoria. ^[1][2]

Marriage. In 1881, in Victoria, Phoebe married John Thomas Gilchrist.^[3]

MRS. JOHN GILCHRIST'S DEATH

The death occurred at Watchem on August 16 of one of the old pioneers of the district, Mrs. John Gilchrist, who was 65 years Old. When a girl, she came to the district from Eurambeen with her parents. She leaves the following sons and daughters to whom the sympathy of all is extended: Ethel (Mrs. Besler), Alice (Mrs. Berry), Beatrice (Mrs. McQuienn), Annie (Mrs. Finn), Teresa (Mrs. M. Berry), William, Walter (deceased), Bertram, Leslie, Robert, Frank, Donald and Blanche (deceased). Her sisters are Mrs. E. McCallum of Corack, Mrs. J. W. Donnan of Woomelang, and her brothers Samuel (Lalbert), George (Mornington), Benjamin (Cowangie), Ernie (Cowangie)). ^[6]

Burial. Interred Church of England portion, Watchem Cemetery. ^[7][8]
