Biography

R. B. was born about 1859. He is the son of John Gamble and Margaret Blackwell.

In the 1860 census ^[1] Robert is age 1 living in Clarendon, South Carolina with his parents an unnamed sister (ag 3), and three older half sibling; James (age 8), Esther (age 7) and Junius (age 5).

In the 1870 census ^[2] he is referred to as "B. B." Gamble is age 10, and living in Douglas Township, Clarenden County, Sjouth Carolina with his parents and siblings "W. D." (age 12), Vermell "V. V." (age 9), "J. M." (age 7), Hattie "H. L." (age 5), and Elizabeth "E. R." (age 5). In the 1880 census ^[3] he is age 21, and living in Concord, Clarendon, South Carolina with his parents and the siblings above less "W. D." who would be age 22 and likely moved away.

In the 1930 census ^[4] Robert is 71 and living with his sister Elizabeth, her son Hilliard Folsom, and two boarders.
