Biography

Lucinda (Garrett) Wilborne is a part of US Black heritage.

Lucinda was born in 1896 in Halifax County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Sandy Garrett and Barbara Moss. She was raised by her parents in Roanoke, Halifax County where her family farmed. Lucinda married Willie Wilborne in 1917 in Halifax. In 1930 they were living in Roanoke with 4 children and Willie's mother. In 1950, Lucinda was in the household of her daughter Roberta and son-in-law David; as a 55-year-old widow, she was attending school in Halifax County. Lucinda passed away a widow in 1991 at age 95. According to her death certificate she was buried in Bethel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Clover, Virginia.
