Leonardo married Magdalena Martines, the daughter of Marcelino Martines and Ildefonsa de Castro. They were married on 27 Feb 1752. From this union they had the following children: Simon, Maria Polinara, Manuel del Carmen, Matias Casimiro, Ana Josefa, Maria Ana, Maria Josefa Refugia, Maria Gertrudis, Jose Ventura, Polina Rafaela, and Jose Antonio.
The 1790 Census of the Civilians of San Antonio cited the following: 90. Leonardo de la Garza, 60, his wife, Maria Magdalena Martines, 54, their children; Mathias, a widower, 34, Jose Antonio, 30 and Jose Manuel, 15 years old.
The 1804 census of families in the Villa of San Fernando cited Leonardo de la Garza, Spaniard, widower, 70 years old.
