Aaron Gatliff was born in the early 19th century in Kentucky; possibly Pine Knot, McCreary, Kentucky or Knox County, Kentucky. His parents were Moses Gatliff and Mary Walker. He married Amelia Anderson probably around 1828 or 1829 in Whitley County, Kentucky. Aaron and Amelia had four daughters: Rachel, Louisa, Pherbia, and Serelda. Aaron was a Union soldier in the Civil War, in the 4th Regiment, Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He is believed to have passed away on February 4, 1846, in Whitley County, Kentucky.
