Biography

John Gavan Duffy was born on 15 October 1844 in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Emily Duffy and Charles Gavan Duffy.^[1]

Arrived in Victoria on the Morning Light on 30 August 1859.^[2]

He married Margaret Mary Callan on 20 June 1874 in Victoria, Australia.^[1][3][4] Their children were:

• Margaret Mary Gavan Duffy (1878–?)^[5]
• Marie Emily Gavan Duffy (1884–1885)^[6]
• Charles Diarmaid Gavan Duffy (1886–1964)^[7]
• John Leo Gavan Duffy (1889–1925)^[8]

John died on 8 March 1917 at his home in East St Kilda, Victoria, Australia.^[1][9]
