DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Seth by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Seth:

Note that obituary image attached contains an error. The Elbridge Gerry of this family was not the Elbridge Gerry who signed The Declaration of Independence and VP of the U.S. The Elbridge of the Declaration and V.P. was from the Gerry Family of Marblehead, Massachusetts.

I agree. I found the relationship to Elbridge Gerry listed in some documents. But further research disproved that. I feel that the finding of a relationship to a famous person is all too common in family lore.

You give this military credits to this Seth Gary,Gerry who is living in Maine for 6 years before the war. Why would he travel back to Massachusetts and enlist with the age of 25 and the sergeant Seth Gary’s age is 25 but he states he is a brick maker from Tauren and Bristol there are 2 Seth Gary’s in Bristol and Tauren area and with this Seth as the 3d Seth who lives in Maine and is a shipbuilder.

Needs a research so we give military credits to the right man.

I am very interested in accurately crediting military service to the correct person (being retired from the US Army myself), and in looking into this further I have found several points of interest.

However Seth Gerry (or Garry, as listed in one line of the record of enlistments) did not have to travel back to Massachusetts to enlist. Maine was a part of Massachusetts during the War of 1812. The 34th Infantry was a Massachusetts regiment was composed mostly of men from the District of Maine. Note that he was discharged from Portland, Massachusetts - not Portland, Maine. The 2 Seth Gerry's listed were the same person. Both were born in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. The occupations vary and are listed in primary sources as bricklayer/brickmaker in enlistment records, and farmer in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. Then he is listed as a shipbuilder in the Gary Genealogy (unsourced). The occupations do not cancel each other as they may refer to different dates. The problem with listing Seth Gerry as a veteran of the War of 1812 lies in the 1840 Census where he is not listed as a pensioner. However the record of military enlistment does state "See pension case". I have not yet found a pension file for him, but am still working on this.
