Emily (Hughes) Gersdorff was born in Brightling, Sussex, England.

Emily Ann Hughes was born shortly before Jun 1880 in Robertsbridge, Sussex, England to George Hughes and Emily Ann Allen.^[1] She was baptised on 3 Oct 1880 at St Thomas a Becket church in Brightling, Sussex.^[2]

She lived with her parents in Brightling until her marriage.^{[3] [4]}

Emily married Hasso Gersdorff sometime in late 1900/early 1901. A marriage record cannot be located at this time. They did not have any children.

In 1901, Emily and Hasso were living with her parents in Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex.^[5]

Unfortunately, her husband died shortly after their marriage.

In 1911, she was living in Banbury, Oxfordshire with her sister Madeleine and her family.^[6] The census shows that Emily was a widow having been married for under one year. No children are listed.
