Lydia Gilbert was christened in Derby, Derbyshire on 15 January 1832[1]. She was the daughter of William Gilbert and his wife Ellen.
At the time of the 1841 England and Wales Census, William, Ellen, Lydia, William, Sarah, Joseph, and Henry Gilbert were listed as living on Malt Sitwell Street in St Peter, Derbyshire, along with Susan Gilbert, who may have been William's sister[2].
