Thomas and Susannah may have had some 16 children - the first seven children born in Lee Co., Virginia, and the rest born in Kentucky, according to census records. The family moved to Floyd Co. KY around 1821-1822. They are on the 1830 Floyd Co., 1840 Perry Co., 1850 Letcher Co., and 1860 Carter Co. Kentucky census records.
Roseanna Gilbert Nolan (22 Nov 1838-24 Apr 1919 Grahn, Carter, Kentucky)[3] may have m.1 James Colwell or Cockrell, m.2. James Nolen, m.3 Jeremiah Nolen,? brother of James.
A Thomas Gilber, was received as a member of the Thompson Settlement Church, October 20, on Saturday, 1810.
February 27, 1810 Abner Barnett and Comfort, his wife, of Lee County conveyed fifty acres of land, lying on the north side of Powell River, the same tract Barnett purchased from Champ Hamblen, 14 February 1804, to a Thomas Gilbert of Lee County for $500. (DBK 2-284)."[4]
