Biography
John Gilkerson (or Gilkeson) is estimated as born about 1748, based on his headstone pic on Find A Grave. His place of birth is not known. (Pennsylvania or Ireland have been suggested in online family trees, but no source provided.)
John Gilkeson married Nancy Davis on 8 Jun 1779 in Virginia, United States.[1]
His date of death is not certain. It was likely 1793, based on record for Major John Gilkeson, age 45 (born about 1748), who died on 19 Jun 1793 and was buried at Old Opequon Cemetery, Kernstown, Frederick County, Virginia, United States.[2]
In the 1820 US census, there are records for a John Gilkeson and a Nancy Gilkeson, listed adjacent to eachother in Cabell County, Virginia.[3] It is assumed this is his son.
