It is with regret we chronicle the demise of Mrs. A. E. Gayton, at the age of 61 years. The deceased lady come to reside in Beverley twenty three years ago and during that period, by her practical Christian efforts and sympathy with those in distress, she won a large circle of friends. Her home was a rendezvous for many of the country folk and a warm welcome awaited their arrival One phrase expresses her character : "She went about doing good." Always hale and hearty her sudden serious illness came as a surprise. Knowing her helpless condition she went to live at North Fremantle with relatives and it was there, after suffering much, that she passed away on November 15th. The funeral took place on the 17th in the Methodist Cemetery, the Rev. C. Jenkins officiating, whilst six nephews acted as pall bearers. An In Memoriam service was held in the Methodist Church, Beverley, where the deceased lady was a constant worshipper, on Sunday evening last. Touching reference to her life end service was made by the Rev. Jones, and the choir feelingly rendered the anthem : ' Goodnight beloved." Much sympathy is expressed for her husband and son who mourn her loss.
