Thomas Goolsby, III first married to Martha Thomas. [1]
About 1732 he moved to what is now Albemarle County, Virginia where he was one of the earliest settlers. Albemarle County was organized about 1745.
He took out a Crown Grant for 1,200 acres on the James River (this location would suggest that it was in that part of Fluvanna or Goochland counties that later became Albemarle County).
In 1745 he sold to S. Shelton, 500 acres on the tributaries of the James River, called Holman's & Goolsby Creeks. The first deed of record was destroyed by the depredations of the British Army.
The last Will of his father was presented at court on 10 Mar 1747/48 without his objection, by his widowed mother, Tabitha, and his brother William Goolsby. [2]
Thomas Goolsby, III married secondly about 1766 to Nancy Bryant.
He patented some land at Williamsburg, Virginia on 16 Feb 1771 [1][3]
Thomas Goolsby, III married thirdly about 1772 to Lucy Bryant (1722-1802).
