Biography

Bridget (Gould) Seymour was born in Somerset, England.

Bridget was born about 1823 in Midsomer Norton, Somerset, England, to John Gould and Elizabeth Bull.

By the 1841 census Bridget was living in the household of farmer Evan Catley, in Chilcompton, Somerset. She was probably working as a servant.^[1]

On 24 Dec 1850 Bridget married John Carey Seymour (bef.1829-1888) in the Parish Church at Midsomer Norton.^[2]

In 1851 the couple were living in Midsomer Norton. Bridget's brother Elijah was lodging with them. ^[3]

By the 1861 census the couple had moved to Fosse Hill in Radstock and were living with their two daughters and two lodgers.^[4]

In 1871 the family were still living in Radstock with the addition of a son Thomas.^[5]

In 1881 the couple were living in Radstock with their son Thomas.^[6]

John died in 1888 at the age of 59.

In 1891 widowed Bridget was living with her brother William. She was named as Elizabeth Seymour, working as a housekeeper.^[7]

William died in 1900 and by 1901 Bridget was living on her own in Midsomer Norton. She was named as Elizabeth Seymour, a widow and a pauper.^[8]

Bridget died in 1911 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, at the age of 88.^[9]
