Margaret Gover Garrett was born about 1760 (Find a grave) in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's Co., Maryland, the daughter of John Gover and Elizabeth Mullikin Duvall[1] She married in Virginia at age 24, and her husband moved the family to Tennessee in 1794, the year they had their last child. By 1805, he moved the family to South Carolina[2], where he purchased land. One last move was made by 1820 to Missouri, where Margaret and Leonard both died.
