Katie Beatrice Hall was an American educator and politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Indiana from 1982 to 1985, making her the first black woman from Indiana elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She is best known for sponsoring legislation and leading efforts in the U.S. House in 1983 to make Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a national holiday.[1][2]

On August 15, 1957, Katie married John Henry Hall.[6][7][2]
Katie Beatrice Hall, daughter of Jeff Green & Bessie Mae Hooper, died (age 73) on 20 February 2012 in Gary, Lake, Indiana.[5][2] Katie was buried in Washington Memory Gardens, Homewood, Illinois.[8]
